“Le Café” at Espace Blue Océan successfully passes Surfrider Foundation audit

it complies with its Ocean Friendly Restaurants (OFR) Charter, launched a few years ago in the United States and adapted to the specific characteristics of each European country.

Thus, Blue Océan joins several hundred restaurant owners.
The catering sector has made very little commitment to the green transition: losses in the food supply chain, waste, abundance of trash, excessive use of plastic, etc.

Surfrider Foundation Europe launched the “Ocean Friendly Restaurants” programme in 2020 to support restaurant owners in their eco-responsible approach, with participants committing to respecting a number of established criteria: no endangered species on the menu, dishes based on local, seasonal and/or organic produce, vegetarian dishes, etc.
The ultimate goal: to protect the ocean!

A committed and engaging project.
For restaurant owners, Ocean Friendly Restaurants is an invaluable aid in their green transition. This initiative enables them to reach customers who want to eat in restaurants that share their convictions.

New BLUE OCEAN award
In the following steps of the global partnership signed in the spring with Surfrider Foundation – the ultimate ocean protection NGO – it makes sense for our restaurant to join the ranks of restaurateurs committed to sustainable catering practices.

The charter reinforces Blue Océan’s commitment to protecting the environment: energy saving, waste sorting, composting, eliminating polystyrene and plastic packaging and using environmentally friendly cleaning products. It was awarded the European Ecolabel by Afnor in 2009.
